Women's Basketball Honors CSUN Faculty on MVP Day

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – CSUN Women's Basketball honored six campus members as part of CSUN Athletics' MVP (Most Valuable Professor) Program during a halftime ceremony in the Matadors' 85-75 home win over Long Beach State on Saturday at Premier America Credit Union Arena.
"CSUN student-athletes continue to achieve at a high level thanks to the support of CSUN Faculty," said Ryan Swartwood, CSUN's Director of Athletics. "The MVP games are essential for our Athletics Department as we gather and celebrate our Faculty and express our gratitude for their contributions."
During the halftime MVP recognition, six women's basketball student-athletes selected one faculty or staff member who has made a meaningful impact on their academic journey.
Women's Basketball MVP Honorees
- Jolleen Hartman, Administrative Support Coordinator in the Matador Achievement Center, was invited by Alondra Lizama.
- Dong Liu, Professor in the Department of Marketing, was invited by Erika Aspajo.
- Kenneth Cran, Professor in the Department of English, was invited by Jana Canadell.
- W. Gabriel Selassie, Professor in the Department of Africana Studies, was invited by Jite Gbemuotor.
- Daniel Tamae, Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, was invited by Rita Nazario.
- Peter Marston, Professor in the Department of Communication Studies, was invited by Kelly Tumlin.
CSUN Athletics' next MVP game is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 26, when the Matador men's basketball team takes on UC Irvine at 7 p.m. at Premier America Credit Union Arena.
