Boman Ties For 12th to Pace Men's Golf at UC San Diego Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. - Sophomore Tavin Boman finished in a tie for 12th to lead the CSUN Men's Golf team to an eighth-place finish at the conclusion of the UC San Diego Invitational on Tuesday at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
Boman, who was 69th after an opening round 4-over 76 on Sunday, steadily moved up the leaderboard over the final two rounds. He fired a 5-under 67 in round two on Monday to move into a tie for 18th before a 3-under 69 in the final round moved him up to 12th. With a three-round score of 4-under 212, Boman had his low total for 54 holes this season.
Boman's fourth and final birdie at No. 1 on Tuesday moved him to 4-under through 13 holes. He would finish 1-over on his final five holes to close out a 3-under 69.
After posting team rounds of 8-over 297 on Sunday and 2-under 286 on Monday, CSUN finished the final round at 5-under 283 to move up from 10th into a tie for eighth at 2-over 866. Loyola Marymount (18-under, 846) led from start to finish to claim the team title in the 17-team field. LMU's Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh (-13, 203) also led from start to finish to win individual medalist honors.

- Following Boman's 12th-place finish, senior Domenic De Luca finished in a tie for 31st at 1-over 217. De Luca, who posted scores of even-par 72 on Sunday and 3-over 75 on Monday, finished with a 2-under 70 in the final round. He had five birdies on Tuesday and was 3-under through his opening 11 holes before finishing 1-over in his final seven holes of the day.
- Ethan Posthumus was one of two Matadors to finish the final round at even-par, which tied him for 35th at 2-over 218. Posthumus, who opened with rounds of 74-72, had three birdies in the final round to finish at even-par 72.
- Bryson Barnes, who posted rounds of 3-over 75 and even-par 72 on Sunday and Monday, had four birdies in the final rounds to finish at 3-over 75. At 6-over 222, Barnes tied for 59th.
- Liam Judkins opened with rounds of 76-78, before also finishing the final round at even-par 72 to tie for 75th at 10-over 226.
- Dillon Jonke, competing as an individual, tied for 81st at 11-over 227 following rounds of 78-73-76.
HEAD COACH JIM BRACKEN SAID
"Tavin has had back-to-back tournaments where he's played very well. Liam is rounding back into form, and Dom has been pretty consistent as well. We have two tough tournaments coming up before the Big West Championship, so we'll hopefully keep improving and getting good play from all five guys."

CSUN will be back in action on Mar. 31 as the Matadors travel to Maricopa, Ariz., for the first of three rounds of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
