Mariona Cos-Morales Signs First Professional Contract With Lima-Horta Barcelona

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- CSUN women's basketball student-athlete Mariona Cos Morales has agreed to a professional contract to continue her basketball career with Lima-Horta Barcelona of the LF Challenge League in Barcelona, Spain. Cos-Morales is returning to her home country to play professional basketball in 2026-27 after playing three seasons in Div. I basketball with CSUN and Rider University.
"Mariona is an incredible athlete with a great internal drive," head coach Angie Ned said. "There is no surprise that she has the opportunity to play professionally. I am excited to see her continue her career in Spain."
As a graduate student, Cos-Morales came on strong in the latter half of the season for the Matadors in 2025-26. She found herself in the starting rotation in the last 10 games of the season. One of her biggest highlights this season was scoring a season-high 13 points in the final regular season game against Cal State Fullerton. In the same game, she got it done on the defensive end as well, recording a career-high four blocks.
Cos Morales played her first two seasons in community college for Casper College. Saw action in 62 games for the Thunderbirds including 10 starts. She helped the team secure back-to-back Region IX Championships and NJCAA Tournament Appearances.
At Rider University in 2023-25, she started in all 29 games as a senior and made the MAAC All-Academic Team.
Lima-Horta Barcelona has been a professional basketball team since 1989. Cos-Morales becomes the 17th CSUN Women's Basketball player to play in the professional ranks.
