Nazario a Key Piece on Portugal’s U20 EuroBasket Division B Championship Team

SAMOKOV, Bulgaria --- CSUN Women's Basketball's point guard, Rita Nazario, added a trophy to her case when she, along with the U20 Portuguese National Team, took home the championship this past weekend in the U20 EuroBasket Division B Tournament held in Samokov, Bulgaria from July 4-12.
Portugal went undefeated in the group stage, outlasting Montenegro and Switzerland, with both wins coming by double digits. The biggest win of the tournament came against Bulgaria in the qualifying round. Nazario scored a tournament best 10 points off the bench on 4-of-6 shooting in the 92-54 victory, propelling her team to a semifinals berth.
In the semis, Portugal made quick work of Slovakia, defeating them 73-46 to clinch a spot in the championship against Greece.
In the finals of the tournament, Portugal made it look easy, defeating Greece by a score of 73-48. Nazario had a very efficient plus-minus of +11 in the win. In the final four games of the tournament, she had at least one made shot from distance in all of those victories.
Nazario is set to enter into her junior year for the 2026-27 season at CSUN, hoping to build on a successful first year with the program in 2025-26. Nazario led the team last season in points per game with 10.4 per contest. She played in all 30 games and also led the team in total three-pointers made with 68. She also led the team in free-throw percentage with an 83.3 percent clip.
