2025-26 Top CSUN Moments - Matt Warshaw Becomes All-Time Winningest CSUN Water Polo Coach

From July 6 to August 7, GoMatadors.com will present the top CSUN Moments from the 2025-26 sports season. Today, we celebrate head Women's Water Polo coach Matt Warshaw on becoming the all-time winningest coach in program history.
CSUN's longest tenured women's water polo coach became the program's all-time winningest coach on March 5, as Matt Warshaw notched career win No. 128 when the Matadors defeated McKendree by a 20-11 score at Matador Pool.
A CSUN alum, Warshaw became Matadors' fourth head coach in program history in 2017. Over his nine seasons leading the program, Warshaw has led CSUN to five winning seasons including setting a school record with four consecutive winning records from 2023-26.
In the 2026 season, Warshaw would surpass Molly Barnes' record for the most seasons as head coach of the Matador program. Barnes, the team's first-ever head coach, previously led CSUN for its first eight seasons (2002-09). Along with that record, Warshaw exceeded another of Barnes' benchmarks -- the program's all-time wins record.
CSUN would get Warshaw's 127th career win on Feb. 20 with a conference-opening win at Cal State Fullerton, tying Barnes' record. When CSUN hosted its mini invite two weeks later, Warshaw would earn the magical 128th career win in a wire-to-wire Matador victory over McKendree.
CSUN jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the match, highlighted by a hat trick from freshman Mira Dravucz. After McKendree clawed back to within 8-3, CSUN closed the first half on a 6-3 run to extend to a 14-6 lead. CSUN never looked back in the second half, scoring six more times to cruise to a 20-11 victory. A total of 11 Matadors hit the net in the win while Dravucz led the way with five goals.
Warshaw's Matadors finished the season with a 17-9 record along with a national ranking for the eighth time in Warshaw's tenure with the program. CSUN's .654 win percentage during the year was also the program's best since 2013.
