2025-26 Top CSUN Moments - Women's Golf Sets Numerous Program Scoring Records

From July 6 to August 7, GoMatadors.com will present the top CSUN Moments from the 2025-26 sports season. Today, we celebrate the CSUN Women's Golf team that set numerous program scoring records on the way to the Matadors' best Big West Championship finish since 2019.
The CSUN Women's Golf team wound up a record-filled 2025-26 season by finishing fourth at the 2026 Big West Women's Golf Championship at Ka'anapali Golf Course in Hawai'i. Senior Kim Turgut fired a final round 3-under 69 to post CSUN's best individual finish in seven years.
The Matadors capped an impressive season by closing the Big West Championship with a team final round of 8-under 280. CSUN's 280 was the low round of the day and is the Matadors' best-ever single round at the conference championship. The Matadors' team score of 876 is also their best at a conference championship, besting the 894 the Matadors posted at the 2019 championship at Moorpark Country Club. CSUN's fourth-place finish is its best since finishing as runners-up at Moorpark CC, also in 2019.
As a team, CSUN posted a pair of tournament wins, claiming Utah Valley's Wolverine Invitational to open the season and winning Fresno State's Soboba Classic in February.Â
Turgut, who began Tuesday's final round at the Big West Championship tied for fourth at even-par 144, had 5 birdies and 11 pars on Tuesday and worked around a pair of bogeys to finish at 3-under 69. Her final tournament total of 3-under 213 is the best at the Big West Championship for a Matador golfer since Beth Allen finished at 7-under 209 in 2004. Turgut also earned a spot on the All-Tournament team based on her third-place finish, which is the best for CSUN since Brianna Steger finished second in 2019.
In the program record book, the 2025-26 Matador squad posted 13 single rounds into the all-time top 20 rounds in the program's Division I history. CSUN set the record with an 8-under 276 in the second round of the MSU SoCal Spring Invitational on Mar. 8 at Sterling Hills GC in Camarillo. The final round 280 at the Big West Championship ranks second, followed by another 8-under 280 at the Wolverine Invitational at Talon's Cove in September. CSUN's second-round 5-under 283 ranks fourth in history. Â
CSUN's 54-hole tournament score of 14-under 850 at the Wolverine Invitational also sets a new program standard, shattering the previous 54-hole round score of 877 at the same event in 2024. The 2025-26 Matadors also notched the next three best tournament scores in program history: 863 (-1) at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate, 865 (+1) at the Clash at Boulder Creek, and 876 (+12) at the Big West Championship.
In addition to Turgut's performance at the conference championship, junior Nicole Tanoue posted her first individual tournament win at the Soboba Spring Classic in February. In total, the Matadors posted 13 individual top 10 finishes in 2025-26 and added 10 more top 20 finishes.
Senior Gracie Piar finished the season with a team-leading 73.33 scoring average, followed by Turgut (73.76), Tanoue (74.06), Ariya Soldwisch (74.77), Meghan Paracuelles (77.0), Ellie Shirley (78.0), Sophie Cook (78.29), and Lily McGowan (78.53).Â
Piar and Turgut were each named to the All-Big West Team, the first time since the 2013-14 that CSUN Women's Golf had multiple players named to the all-conference team. Piar earned second-team honors and fellow senior Turgut named honorable mention. Turgut and Tanoue also represented CSUN Women's Golf as the 2025-26 WGCA All-American Scholar Team was announced on July 13.Â
