CSUN Finishes 13th at Season Opening Branch Law/McGuire Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The CSUN Women's Golf team carded a final round 314 to place 13th at the conclusion of the season opening Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at UNM Championship Course.

The Matadors opened with a team round of 17-over 305 on Monday before the second round was suspended due to weather. CSUN finished round two on Tuesday morning, posting a 28-over 316, before moving on to the final round where CSUN finished at 26-over 314.

Senior Meghan Paracuelles finished as the low Matador scorer, tying for 52nd at 14-over 230. Paracuelles posted a pair of birdies in a final round 5-over 77, which followed up rounds of 75-78 on Monday.

CSUN SCORES

Following Paracuelles, senior Nicole Tanoue finished tied for 57th at 15-over 231. Tanoue opened with rounds of 76-80, before matching Paracuelles with a pair of birdies in a final round 3-over 75.
Sophie Cook tied for the 70th at 20-over 236 after finishing the final round at 9-over 81. Cook was CSUN's low scorer in round with a 3-over 75 before finishing round two at 8-over 80.
Freshman Ashley Han finished her first collegiate tournament in 74th place at 23-over 239. Han opened the tournament with a round of 80, before finishing round two at 6-over 78 and 9-over 81 on Tuesday.
Freshman Moanikeala Finau also made her CSUN debut, tying for 76th at 27-over 243. Finau followed up rounds of 79-81 on Monday with a final round 11-over 83.
A third CSUN freshman Olivia Yoon, also making her CSUN debut, competed as an individual and finished 81st at 35-over 51 following rounds of 86-84-81.

"This team has so much potential. The season has barely started, and we have a lot of work to do. But I'm very hopeful and excited for this year."

UP NEXT
CSUN next returns to Riverside Country Club in Bozeman, Mont. for the Yellowstone Invitational on Sept. 21-22. The Matadors finished second at the Yellowstone Invitational last season.
