Danielle Vailes joined the CSUN staff in August 2017 and was promoted to Associate Athletic Trainer in August 2019. Vailes oversees all aspects of healthcare for the Women's Basketball program with secondary sporting assignment to Men’s Volleyball. Danielle supervises the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers, acts as the liaison for women’s health for the women’s athletic programs, and is the Institutional Drug Testing Coordinator for athletics.
Prior to CSUN, Vailes was employed at Jacksonville University as an Assistant Athletic Trainer directly over Men’s Basketball while assisting with the Football program. In the fall of 2015, Vailes added the responsibility of Drug Testing Coordinator.
Vailes had opportunities working with the United States Army at Fort Benning, Georgia as an athletic trainer for basic training soldiers with Auburn University. She also worked as an outreach athletic trainer, working multiple high school and youth sporting events throughout the state of Alabama. Before moving to Alabama, Vailes worked as a student athletic trainer at her alma mater, Charleston Southern, with the football, women’s basketball, baseball and women’s soccer programs.
Vailes earned her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, with a Kinesiology minor, in 2011 from Charleston Southern University and her Masters in Exercise Science in 2012 from Auburn University. Danielle is happily married to husband Joshua.
She is a Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification, Inc. and is a member of the NATA. Vailes is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer. Vailes holds a Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab certification (FAKTR) as well as an American Heart Association certification (CPR, AED, and First Aid). Vailes is a preceptor by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Education Council.
