Broc Mortensen enters his first season on the CSUN Baseball staff as director of player development in 2025-26.
Prior to CSUN, Mortensen began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Cuesta College where he spent two seasons from 2024-25. He would help Cuesta advance to the 3C2A Super Regionals in each of his two years with the program.
No stranger to the Big West, Mortensen had an exceptional college baseball playing career at UC Santa Barbara where he tied the Gaucho career home record with 42 over three seasons from 2021-23. An All-Big West Second Team selection in 2022, Mortensen led the conference in homers twice with a career-best 16 recorded as a junior. In 169 career games, Mortensen recorded 146 hits, 145 RBI, 128 runs scored and 72 walks while he batted .269 and slugged at a .547 clip.
Mortensen would also help lead UCSB to the NCAA Regionals twice in his career while he was a member of the Gauchos’ Big West title run in 2022.
Prior to UCSB, Mortensen spent two seasons at Cuesta College where he was named Male Athlete of the Year in 2020.
Mortensen’s college career would also include a two-year stint playing football at Cal Poly from 2017-18. He played at slotback with the Mustangs, competing in 14 total games including a career-high 11 as a freshman. Mortensen scored two touchdowns and rushed for 206 yards on 39 carries during the 2017 campaign.
