James Ciuffo enters his 27th season as an assistant coach to the CSUN Women's Teannis team in 2024-25.
Ciuffo has worked as an assistant to head coach Gary Victor for over two-plus decades at CSUN, helping the Matadors to 325 dual victories.
This past season, the Matadors went 13-7 overall and 7-2 in Big West play. CSUN's .778 conference winning percentage was the program best since joining the Big West in 2001.
In 2023, Ciuffo helped the Matadors reach the postseason in the inaugural Universal Tennis NIT as CSUN finished 17-6 on the season.
In his tenure, Ciuffo would also help coach CSUN to the Big Sky Conference championship and a berth in the 2001 NCAA Tournament. Teaming with Victor, Ciuffo has been instrumental in the development of numerous All-Big West players in both singles and doubles action.
Along with his coaching duties, Ciuffo assists in organizing practices and recruiting. Ciuffo attended Cal Lutheran University, where he was a member of the men's tennis team from 1994 to 1996. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business from CLU in 1996. Prior to attending Cal Lutheran, Ciuffo attended Pierce College in Woodland Hills, Calif. and graduated from Taft High School in 1998. He is also a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association.
Ciuffo and his wife Shelley have a daughter, Angelina.
