A collegiate coaching veteran, Jeff Dunlap completed his third season as an assistant basketball coach to the Matador Men's Basketball team in 2020-21.
Dunlap reunited with Gottfried in 2018-19 at CSUN after the tandem had previously worked together at North Carolina State for six seasons (2011-17) and the University of Alabama for two seasons (2007-09).
In three seasons with the Matadors, Dunlap has helped lead CSUN to 37 wins and 22 conference wins during his time in Northridge. CSUN posted its best conference finish in 11 seasons in 2019-20, coming in second place in the Big West and earning a No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. The Matadors have also been the top scoring offense in the Big West in his first two seasons.
Prior to CSUN, Dunlap served as the head coach and general manager of the St. John's Edge of the National Basketball League of Canada in 2017-18. Dunlap led the Edge to a 30-19 record and a trip to the divisional finals before falling to the eventual two-time league champions in six games. He was named Executive of the Year last season and earned a pair of Coach of the Month nods.
Dunlap has coached in the SEC, Mid-American Conference, Horizon League and Big West as well as in the Division II and junior college ranks.Â
Working as Gottfried's assistant at NC State, Dunlap helped coach the Wolfpack to four NCAA Tournaments including two Sweet Sixteen appearances. Dunlap also served as an assistant to Jim Harrick at the University of Georgia from 1999-03 where the Bulldogs went on to advance to a pair of NCAA Tournaments.
In his extensive coaching career, Dunlap had two coaching stints at Western Michigan (2004-07, 2010-11) and Loyola-Chicago (1998-99, 2003-04). He has also had stops at Fullerton College (1997-98), Cal State Fullerton (1994-97), Quincy University (1991-94) and the College of the Canyons (1989-91).

Prior to his coaching career, Dunlap was a three-year letterwinner at UCLA from 1983-86 as he played for Larry Farmer and Walt Hazzard. Dunlap helped the Bruins win the 1985 NIT Championship and he was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior Award in 1986.
Originally from North Hollywood, Calif., Dunlap earned a degree in political science from UCLA in 1986. He also received his master's in physical education from Azusa Pacific University in 1998.Â
