Angela Brinton-Collins was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993. Brinton-Collins lettered for the Matador women's volleyball team from 1985 to 1987. She was a two-time NCAA Division II All-American in 1986 and 1987 and was selected as the 1987 Reebok Player of the Year and 1987 CCAA Most Valuable Player.
The setter guided the Matadors to consecutive NCAA Finals appearances under head coach Walt Ker in 1986 and 1987 and to the program’s second NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Championship title in 1987. CSUN defeated Central Missouri State in five sets to capture the 1987 national championship, as Brinton-Collins had 1,017 in 111 sets to average 9.16 assists per set that season.

The Cal State Northridge Female Athlete of the Year, as a senior, also added the impressive honor of being named the 1987 Honda Broderick Athlete of the Year, topping all women’s volleyball players across all three NCAA divisions.
Brinton-Collins’s name remains in the CSUN record books, ranking first in career hitting (.397) and ninth in career assists (1,117), while also ranking sixth in single-season hitting percentage (.363).
In addition to the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame, Brinton-Collins was inducted into the CCAA Hall of Fame in 2016 and the Glendale Community College Hall of Fame in 2011.
She graduated from CSUN in 1988.
