Darcy Arreola Lange

Darcy Arreola Lange was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1998. Arreola Lange came to Cal State Northridge from El Cajon and competed on the school's track & field and cross country teams from 1987 to 1991.Â

She is a four-time NCAA National Champion in track & field and once in cross country while she is the first CSUN athlete to win a Division I national title in 1991. In her career, Arreola Lange accumulated 11 NCAA All-American awards spanning cross country, Division II, and Division I track events.
Arreola Lange captured the NCAA Division I National Title in the 1,500 meters with a school-record time of 4:11.97. Her season-best 1,500 meter time of 4:09.32 that season still ranks as the top time in school history.Â
She also won three NCAA Division II titles in her track career, capturing the 1,500 and 3,000 meter titles in 1988 along with the 3,000 meter once more in 1989.Â
In cross country, Arreola Lange claimed the NCAA Division II cross country championship with a time of 17:14.20. She would also win a pair of CCAA championships in her cross country career in 1987 and 1989. Her 5,000 meter time of 17:05.0 stood as the school's top Division I time for 24 years until it was surpassed by Elizabeth Nelson in 2014.Â
She was nominated to the prestigious NCAA 25th Anniversary Team for her sustained dominance across both track and cross country.
Arreola Lange was selected as the 1991 CSUN Female Athlete of the Year. Following her CSUN graduation, she competed in the 1991 World University Games in Sheffield, England. Arreola Lange finished 12th in the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:16.97.
