Dr. E. Ann Stitt

Dr. E. Ann Stitt was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1990. Stitt was a highly influential faculty member, coach, and athletic administrator at CSUN. She is best known for pioneering the development of women's sports at the University and served as CSUN's first women's athletic director from 1967 to 1975.
Beyond athletics, Stitt taught physical education and kinesiology. She rose through the ranks to serve as the Chair of the Department of Kinesiology and later as the Dean of the College of Health and Human Development.
Throughout her career, which began in 1965 when the school was still named San Fernando Valley State College, Stitt fought heavily for gender equity in athletic programs and emphasized the mental side of sports training. She also taught physical education and athletic courses for 24 years on the Northridge campus. Stitt also served as the CSUN's Graduate Program Director from 1980 to 1988.
She passed away in 1993Â and is remembered as a cornerstone figure in CSUN's history
