A resident of Northridge, Vice President Peckham retired in August of 1991 after a 24-year career with the University. He came to Northridge in 1967 as Dean of Student Activities and Housing and assumed the title of Dean of Students two years later. He became Vice President of Student Affairs in 1986Â and accepted the responsibilities of overseeing the Matadors' Intercollegiate Athletic Program in 1989 when the program became a part of the Student Affairs family.
Prior to coming to CSUN, Peckham was a Professor of History and Political Science and Dean of Student Life at the University of Pacific from 1958 to 1967.
Peckham earned his bachelor's degree from Brown University in 1948, his master's from Harvard in 1949, and his doctorate from Harvard in 1954.
