Ed Chaidez was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1983. He lettered for the CSUN Track & Field team from 1974 to 1976 under Hall of Fame coach Cliff Abel.Â
Chaidez was a member of CSUN's first National Championship team, capturing the NCAA crown in 1975. Individually, Chaidez would also win the national title in the six-mile run in 1975 while also collecting All-American honors in the three-mile run.Â
Chaidez is a record holder in the two-mile and 10,000 meters as well as the 26-hour marathon, which he completed in 2:20:04. He is also ranked fourth all-time in the 5,000 meters.Â
As a member of CSUN's cross-country team, Chaidez earned All-America honors in 1974 and 1975. He would help the Maatdors win CCAA cross-country championships in each of those seasons.
Chaidez earned his bachelor's degree in physical education in 1976.
