Jeff Kubiak was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009. One of the most decorated swimmers in CSUN history, Kubiak was named NCAA Swimmer of the Year in both 1985 and 1986.
From 1985 to 1987 under head coach Pete Accardy, Kubiak captured seven NCAA individual titles. and was a member of the United States National Team from 1987-90. He established Division II records in the 200-yard individual medley (1:51.85) and the 200-yard breaststroke. Kubiak won the 200-meter breaststroke at the 1987 US National Championships and Pan American Games, and at the 1988 US National Championships.
Kubiak was a US National Team member from 1987-90, ranking among the top 10 in the world. He earned a Pan American Games Gold Medal and finished third at the 1988 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 200-meter breaststroke, serving as an Olympic Team alternate.
When CSUN discontinued the men's swimming program, Kubiak held multiple school records: 100 Breast (55.71), 200 Breast (1:59.84), and the 400 Individual Medley (3:59.67).
Following his competitive retirement, Kubiak spent three decades as a professional swim coach across the U.S. and Australia, training multiple national champions and four-time Olympian Jason Lezak. He also transitioned into a career as an elementary school educator, principal, author, and keynote speaker, publishing children's books focused on inclusion and social-emotional learning.
Kubiak graduated from CSUN in 1987.
