John Tronson was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012. One of the top players in program history, Tronson was a three-year letterwinner for the CSUN Men's Soccer team from 1984 to 1986.
Playing for Hall of Fame head coach Marwan Ass'ad, Tronson was honored as a first-team All-American in 1986. He helped lead the Matadors to three consecutive California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) league championships (1984, 1985, 1986). He was selected as the CCAA MVP in 1984 and 1985.
Over his career - which included 66 games, including five NCAA playoff games in three seasons, Tronson racked up a total of 109 points, finishing his tenure just two goals shy of the school's all-time career goals record at the time (finishing with 43 goals). Tronson remains third all-time in program history in career goals and career points and is also eighth all-time in assists (23). As a freshman, he scored an impressive 20 goals in 23 games, which is tied for third for a single season.
Following his athletic career at CSUN, Tronson transitioned into high-profile commercial real estate in Los Angeles, becoming a Principal at Avison Young. He remains actively connected to his alma mater, having previously served on the CSUN Intercollegiate Athletic Advisory Committee and the Athletic Director's Advisory Circle in recent years.
