California State University Northridge Athletics
CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame

- Induction:
- 1993
Jose Perez was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993. A three-year letterwinner for the CSUN Men's Soccer team in 1981, 1983, and 1984, Perez helped the Matador soccer program to a 40-14-10 overall record during his career.
A resident of Mission Hills and a graduate of Van Nuys High School, Perez was a three-time All-CCAA selection, sharing Most Valuable Player honors in 1983. He also earned NSCAA second-team All-American and first-team All-Far West Region honors in 1981.
Perez finished his career as the school's all-time leader in goals (45) and points (105), and his 45-match totals still rank No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. He holds an extraordinary, long-standing scoring record for goals in a match with nine against Cal State Bakersfield on Oct. 29, 1983. That match propelled him to Matador season records for goals (25) and points (58) that season. He currently ranks No. 2 on the school's single-season charts in both categories. Perez also scored 16 goals in 1984, which ranks tied for seventh-most in a single season. His overall point total that year also ranks tied for ninth-most in program history.
Perez, a 1984 Academic All-American who graduated from CSUN in 1985, worked as a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
