Michael O'Hara was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993. O'Hara lettered for the CSUN Baseball team from 1980 to 1983.
A graduate of Reseda High School, O'Hara's Matador teams produced a record of 151-100-3 under head coach Bob Hiegert. O'Hara was a two-time All-American, earning ABCA/Rawlings All-American honors in both 1982 (second team) and 1983 (first team), a three-time All-District 8 first-team selection (1981, 1982, 1983) and a three-time All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honoree (1981, 1982, 1983). The centerfielder captured CCAA Most Valuable Player honors as a senior in 1983.
Statistically, O'Hara established school records for hits (266), runs (175) and at-bats (790) during his Matador career. In addition to being the all-time leader in games played (242), O'Hara is ranked No. 4 in runs, hits, stolen bases (45) and walks (128) along with No. 7 in at bats. His .411 batting average in 1983 stands No. 2 on the school's all-time season leaders list.
Following his standout senior year, O'Hara was drafted by the California Angels in the 21st round of the 1983 MLB June Amateur Draft. He played one professional season in the minor leagues with the Short-Season A Salem Angels. In 69 games, he posted a .295 batting average with 86 hits, 2 home runs, 25 RBIs, and 27 stolen bases.
O'Hara and his wife, Mindy, have two children, Nikolas (6) and Andrew (3).
