CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame

Mike Kane
- Induction:
- 1992
Mike Kane was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1992. Kane was a four-year letterwinner for the CSUN Football team from 1983 to 1986. He is widely regarded as one of the best offensive players in the program's history.

Kane was named the 1986 Western Football Conference (WFC) Player of the Year in 1986, and was a three-time All-WFC selection. He was nominated for the Harlon Hill Trophy (the NCAA Division II equivalent of the Heisman Trophy).
He ranks second in CSUN Football history in career rushing yards (3,572), carries (705), rushing touchdowns (28), and scoring (236 points). Kane closed out his collegiate career by rushing for a school-record 1,565 yards as a senior in 1986. He also holds the program's single-season record with 274 carries as a senior (1986) and also ranks sixth with 184 carries in 1983. He also hauled in 30 receptions for 383 yards, leading the team in both categories.
Following his graduation with a degree in physical education, Kane looked toward professional football leagues. Despite catching the attention of NFL scouts and attending Canadian Football League (CFL) tryout camps, he ultimately took his talents abroad. He transitioned to the Italian-American Football Association in Milan, Italy, where he was named the European League Most Valuable Player in 1988. Kane was also named Euro Bowl MVP in 1988, playing for the Helsinki Roosters.
He later moved into education and coaching, spending decades working as a high school teacher and assistant football coach in Southern California's William S. Hart Union High School District.
