Tracy McCluskey Rose was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1994. McCluskey Rose swam at CSUN for Hall of Fame head coach Pete Accardy.
McCluskey Rose set national records and won titles as part of CSUN’s dominant 800-yard freestyle relay teams, including victories in 1984 (7:41.27), 1985 (7:35.90), and 1986 (7:35.24).  She earned All-American honors 14 times in NCAA Division II women's swimming for the Matadors.
McCluskey Rose is a former school record holder in the 200-yard freestyle during her two-year Matador career and was twice selected Most Valuable Swimmer by her teammates. In 1984, she scored in six events at the NCAA Division II championships and captured All-American honors in the 200-yard individual medley (third) and the 500-yard freestyle (seventh) and shared the national 800-yard freestyle relay title in an NCAA meet record time of 7:35.90. She followed that effort with five All-American honors in 1985, helping the 800 free relay to another national title and meet record (7:35.24).
Born in Covina, Rose was a four-year letterwinner and three-time team MVP in swimming at West Covina High School. In addition to her swimming kudos as a Matador, she earned a spot on the Cal State Northridge Varsity "N" Academic-Athletic Honor Roll in 1985.
McCluskey Rose graduated from CSUN with her bachelor's degree in Physical Education in 1986. She has spent over 20 years coaching high school track and cross-country. Following her collegiate swimming career, she transitioned to competitive running at Long Beach Community College, where she became the junior college state champion in both the 3000 and 5000 meters.
