CSUN head women’s tennis coach Gary Victory has announced the signing of three student-athletes to continue their playing career with the Matadors.
NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN head women's tennis coach Gary Victor has announced the signing of three student-athletes to continue their playing career with the Matadors.

"We are thrilled with this class of student-athletes," Victor said. "All three young ladies are great students with the type of character we want to bring to our program. They will fit in very well with this motivated and tight knit group we have. All three have excelled in school with 4.0 grade point averages and in tennis throughout their junior development and we look forward to being a part of their growth as people and student-athletes."

Jolene Coetzee enters the Matadors' program from Anaheim Discovery Christian High School. A native of Taichung City, Taiwan, she currently resides in Fullerton, Calif. A five-star recruit, Coetzee is rated No. 36 by Tennisrecruiting.net. Training in Cerritos with coach Joseph Lizardo, she was among the top 20 in Southern California after playing in a limited number of tournaments. Coetzee has as several wins over players ranked in the top 30 in the US.

"Jolene is a five-star recruit who has been training in Orange County," Victor said. "Jolene has a big game and is ready to make an impact immediately in the Big West." Â

Sibel Demirbaga and Evelyn Schmidt are both German natives. Demirbaga is from Hamburg and attended Gymnasium Heidberg. Demirbaga is ranked in the top 150 in women's and top 20 in juniors in Germany. She has won several regional tournaments and holds wins over players ranked in the top 100 in Germany. She only recently turned 16 years old.

"Sibel is a highly disciplined player with a great court sense," said Victor. "Sibel's maturity is well beyond her years."

Schmidt is from Mainburg, Germany and attends Gabelsberger Gymnasium. She is ranked in the top 200 among women's players in Germany. She holds regional tournament wins as well. Schmidt holds victories over players ranked in top 100 in Germany. Â

"Evelyn is an outstanding athlete that will flourish here at CSUN," Victor said. "Evelyn has the discipline and potential to be a top notch collegiate player."
