CSUN returns from the holiday break with a pair of home games that will conclude the non-conference portion of the Matadors’ 2017-18 women’s basketball schedule this week.

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN returns from the holiday break with a pair of home games that will conclude the non-conference portion of the Matadors' 2017-18 women's basketball schedule this week.

CSUN begins play Thursday night with a 7 p.m. start against Biola. It is Ugly Sweater Night on Thursday. If you come to the game wearing your ugly sweater to get into the game at a discounted price, $5.

Coming off a 23-8 final NAIA season in which Biola made the NAIA National Tournament, the Eagles have transitioned to NCAA Division II. Biola is 2-7 and will be resuming play after the Eagles took a break for the holidays. DeMora White leads the team in scoring at 16.8 points per game. This is the first time since 1986 in which CSUN and Biola are playing women's basketball. The Eagles lead the all-time series 7-5.Â

On Saturday, the Matadors host Seattle U at 4 p.m. It is Always Family Day. On Saturday, it is Free admission for kids (up to three) when purchasing two adults if EVERY member of the family/group is wearing CSUN attire. If you save the ticket stub, you will get in free to the 7 p.m. men's basketball game against Morgan State.

The Redhawks wrap up their non-conference schedule against the Matadors. SU is 6-8 after losing 84-79 to UC Irvine Dec. 22. Alexis Montgomery is one of the top players in the Western Athletic Conference. She leads Division I in field goal attempts (267) and is second in field goals (118) and total points (303). Montgomery is eighth in Division I in double-doubles (8), 11th in rebounds (141), and 14th in scoring average (21.6). This is the fifth meeting between the two schools. Each team has won twice on the road since the series began in 2010.

This week's games will be streamed by the CSUN Sports Network presented by Dignity Health. Eric Kaback is scheduled to be on the call on Thursday with Kevin Strauss handling the call on Saturday. After pushing their winning streak to four with a 78-69 victory over Northern Arizona Dec. 18, the Matadors fell 68-60 to Omaha on Dec. 20. Tessa Boagni scored 21 points in only 19 minutes to pace CSUN against Northern Arizona. Channon Fluker recorded 23 points and nine rebounds to lead the Matadors against the Mavericks.
