CSUN Athletics' official website, www.GoMatadors.com, will feature special content celebrating CSUN student-athletes during the week of April 3 as part of National Student-Athlete Week, and the week will culminate with the SAAC clothing and food drive and a ceremonial first pitch by SAAC members at the day's baseball game.
Â
CSUN's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) Chapter provides insight on the student-athlete experience and offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives. SAAC meets regularly throughout the school year to plan student-athlete events, enrich student-athletes through guest speakers and programming and organize volunteer events. During the school year, SAAC plans weekly visits to read to a local elementary school, raises money for the Big West Coin Drive and plans several other community events a year. New this year are fall and spring PRIDE Nights that promote inclusiveness across the CSUN campus and at athletic events in partnership with the CSUN Pride Center, which supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning students, faculty and staff on campus. Other annual SAAC events include a new student-athlete orientation, welcoming CSUN freshman at CSUN Freshman Convocation and the Recognizing Intercollegiate Student-Athlete Excellence (RISE) Awards for student-athletes by student-athletes. This is the second year that SAAC has held a food or clothing drive as part of National Student-Athlete Week.
