LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- The CSUN softball team fell to the Loyola Marymount University Lions, 6-0 Wednesday night in a non-conference contest at Smith Field. Kylie Kolkowski had two hits for the Matadors.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless three and a half innings, LMU opened the scoring in the bottom of the second.
Â
With one out, Justine Lambert, Rubi Lopez and Analiah Lummus all singled in consecutive at-bats to put the bases loaded for Mya Allen. Allen then doubled to left center and plated all three runners on base to put LMU on top, 3-0.Â
Â
CSUN saved a fourth run on a nice defensive play from Amber Rivas. After a single to right field from Avery Francis, Allen was gunned down trying to score from second, a bang-bang play to put two outs on the board.Â
Â
In the bottom of the third, the Lions kicked off the inning with back-to-back singles. After a flyout to right, the lead runner advanced to third. The next batter, Lambert, reached on a fielder's choice and the runner from third scored, even on a close play at home to make it a 4-0 lead.
Â
In the bottom of the fourth, Kealani doubled to left field to start the inning. After a flyout, Izzy Jamgotchian singled and advanced to second on the play. Pitcher Katelyn Dunakin took over in the beginning of the inning and she got a key strikeout when she fanned the next batter, Sydney Poole. Taelor Walker would bring the lead runner home on a single to right field, but the trailing runner got caught in a rundown to end the inning. Still, LMU added one more to make it a 5-0 game after four.Â
Â
In the bottom of the fifth, the Lions added to their total. The first batter of the inning, Sakora Harvell tripled. She was brought home on a double from Lambert. Dunakin then struck out the following batter Lopez on a swing and a miss. The next two batters grounded out to end the rally.
