CSUN Men's Basketball to Participate in 2017 Cancun Challenge

Official 2017 Cancun Challenge Schedule Release
NORTHRIDGE, CA---
Event officials for the 2017 Cancun Challenge have announced CSUN's Men's Basketball's initial opponents for the tournament that will be played on Nov. 21-22 at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in nearby Playa Del Carmen as well as the U.S.-based games of the event.
Placed in the Mayan Division, the Matadors will face Southeast Missouri State in the opening round of the tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 21 and will take on Binghamton or Montana State the following day in either a third-place contest or the championship game.Â
Before departing out of the country, CSUN will face two teams that were placed in the tournament's Riviera Division. The Matadors head up north to take on Fresno State on Monday, Nov. 13 and will square off with George Mason in Fairfax, VA on Saturday, Nov. 18.Â
Both of CSUN's games in Mexico will be streamed live with details scheduled to be released soon. Game times will also be released at a later date.Â
Reggie Theus completed his fourth season as head coach of the Matadors in 2016-17. Along with guiding CSUN to an appearance in the Big West Conference Tournament, Theus led the Matadors to their most wins in conference play (7) since 2011. In addition, the Matadors posted their most road conference wins (4) in six seasons and their first season sweeps of Long Beach State, UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara since 2008, 2010 and 2011 respectively.Â
