The Cardinal (8-9) took the first point of the dual when Maddie Dailey and Amelia Smith defeated Taylor Brydon and Lauren McMurray, 21-11, 21-10 in the No. 3 match. The loss snapped a five-match winning streak for Brydon and McMurray who hadn't lost since Mar. 13. Stanford clinched the dual when the No. 1 match went final as Charlie Eckstrom and Tori Ashkinos defeated Daniella Molinari and Seyvion Waggoner, 21-19, 21-18. The No. 5 pair went to Kat Anderson and Chelsea Red-Horse Mohl over CSUN's Cassidy Rosso and Kailey Klein, 21-18, 22-20 before Nevarez and McLeod earned a hard-fought three-set win (11-21, 21-16, 15-10) over Shannon Richardson and Blake Sharp.Â
COACH NOELLE ROOKE SAID
"We just kept grinding away today and never stopped competing, no matter what our opponents were throwing our way. We haven't been shut out by all of the ranked programs we've faced so I'm extremely proud of how our youth are showing their competitive side every time we step on the sand and continue to work on the process."Â
