The Matadors opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over the Aggies who were making their Big West Tournament debut.
CSUN picked up the first point in dominating fashion as Taylor Brydon and Lauren McMurray swept Katherine Kedeshian and Demari Webb by the score of 21-12, 21-2. Cassidy Rosso and Kailey Klein made it 2-0 Matadors with a 21-15, 21-9 win over Nicole Andrade and Alexa Rockas at No. 5. Nicole Nevarez and Lexi McLeod clinched the dual for CSUN when the No. 4 pair went final. The Matador pair took a 22-20, 21-16 victory over Savanah Schroeder and Rose Holscher.Â
The final two pairs both went the distance as CSUN's No. 1 pair of Daniella Molinari and Seyvion Waggoner defeated Lauren Matias and Heather Reed, 15-21, 21-16, 16-14 before the Matadors finished the 5-0 team win as Darbi Honeycutt and Mikaela Maughan held off the Aggies' Paloma Bowman and Josephine Ough, 22-20, 15-21, 15-11 at No. 2.

Remaining in the winner's bracket, the Matadors took on the Sand Bows who are currently ranked fifth in the AVCA Top-20.
Brydon and McMurray came the closest to taking a set off Hawai'i, which had not dropped a set to CSUN in four previous matches. The Matadors' No. 3 pair claimed the first set before falling to Morgan Martin and Pani Napoleon by the score of 19-21, 21-10, 15-6. Hi'ilawe Huddleston and Kylin Loker took a 21-12, 21-14 win over Nevarez and McLeod at No. 4 to earn Hawai'i's initial point.
The Bows' No. 5 pair of Paige Dreeuws and Sofia Russo then swept Rosso and Klein, 21-8, 21-17 to make it 2-0 before Amy Ozee and Emily Maglio clinched the win by sweeping Molinari and Waggoner, 21-13, 21-18 at No. 1. Julia Scoles and Ari Homayun took care of Honeycutt and Maughan (CSUN), 21-15, 21-12 at No. 2 before Martin and Napoleon held off Brydon and McMurray for the 5-0 win.
CSUNÂ 4, CSU BAKERSFIELDÂ 1
The Matadors then waited until the final match of the afternoon to face the Roadrunners in an elimination match. CSUN, 3-1 against Bakersfield this season, reached the final day for the first time since 2016 after defeating CSUB 4-1.
Mattison DeGarmo and Briannah Mariner got the Runners on the board first, picking up a straight-set win (21-10, 21-11) over Molinari and Waggoner in the No. 1 pair. Brydon and McMurray and Nevarez and McLeod then erased the CSUB lead with wins in the No. 3 and No. 4 matches.
Brydon and McMurray picked up their 18th win of the season after sweeping Sidney Wicks and Hana Makonova in the No. 3 pair, 21-9, 21-17. McLeod and Nevarez made it 2-1 CSUN with a 21-16, 21-15 victory over Brooke Boiseau and Emily Hansen at No. 4.
COACH NOELLE ROOKE SAID
"I'm really proud of the girls, we started and finished the day very strong. We have a goal which is always to live to see another day on the beach and we accomplished that goal today. We're a youthful team and I think we've gotten better and better as the season has gone on. We're doing a good job of exploiting our strengths and improving on our weaknesses. Looking ahead, obviously anyone seeded above us in the conference is going to be a challenge but I think we have just as good a shot as anyone."
