HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights took advantage of two CSUN errors in the top of the first to score four runs. Jazmine Esparza and Kaitlyn Jensen added RBI singles in the top of the third to increase the lead to 5-0.
- The third CSUN error of the game with two outs in the top of the fourth led to one Knights' run. Megan Stevens was hit by an Alea White pitch to begin the CSUN fourth. Jaymi Steward's opposite-field single to left brought up Alyssa Vazquez. Vazquez reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. White struck out the next three batters to keep the Matadors off the scoreboard.
- White limited the Matadors to two hits. She struck out 11 and walked two. Juliana Wilson and Jada Cody both registered two hits for the Knights (20-5-1).
ACCORDING TO HEAD COACH TIARIA FLOWERS
- "It helps to get off to a strong start, and we did not do that today. When you commit a couple of errors in the first inning, it's hard to recover. We allowed ourselves to score and came up short in the fourth inning. We have to play better defense. But did see some good things, but we have to be better and more consistent."
UP NEXT
