NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN head softball coach Charlotte Morgan has announced the signing of Alexis Lemus and Jaclyn Silva to national letters of intent to continue their playing careers with the Matadors. Both players will be eligible for the 2021 season.
An infielder, Lemus began her collegiate career in 2019 at the University of Connecticut where she was named to the American Conference All-Rookie Team. Lemus started 41-of-44 appearances, hitting .240 with one home run and 10 RBI. She scored eight runs and recorded eight doubles. A Rialto, Calif. native, Lemus transferred to Mt. SAC for the 2020 season where she hit .458 with two home runs, 17 RBI, and a .688 slugging percentage.
"Alexis is a proven hitter and a solid second basemen," Morgan said. "She is going to bring power to our line up and be a vital part of our infield this season. I am ready to see what she does here at CSUN over the next couple of years."
Silva is a 2020 graduate of Bishop Amat High School. She is a catcher who can also play in the infield. Silva was a three-time All-League selection and was named All-Area on two occasions. She played for the Junior Mexico National Team from 2017-19. She ended prep career with a .422 career batting average, 15 home runs and 70 RBI. Silva excelled off the field, graduating high school with a 3.4 grade point average.
"We decided to bring Jaclyn to help give us depth behind the plate and on the corners. I love her quickness behind the plate," said Morgan. "I feel that she has what it takes to lead our defense from behind the plate. Excited to get on the field with her and see all the great things she is capable of."
