Sangha in Top-20, CSUN Eighth at Rainbow Wahine Invitational

KAPOLEI, O'ahu - Senior Kiran Sangha carded a CSUN-low round of 76 and is in the top-20 while the Matador Women's Golf team is in eighth-place at 314 after the opening round of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational Monday at Kapolei Golf Course.
Sangha had seven pars and two bogeys on the front nine and made the turn at two-over. Sangha's lone birdie of the round at No. 10 moved her to one-over before three bogeys over her final six holes dropped her to four-over 76 on the day. She finished the day with 12 pars which ranked 13th in the field.
The Matadors posted a team round of (+26) 314 which left them eighth out of nine teams in the field. Baylor is the lone team under-par as the Bears shot a team round of (-4) 284 to carry a 12-shot lead over Santa Clara (296) into Tuesday's second round.

"We are poised to play well tomorrow, it's just a matter of letting the pieces fall together."
CSUN will be paired with Baylor and Hawai'i for Tuesday's second round which gets underway at 10:36 a.m. local time.

CSUNÂ SCORES
- Julia Johansson finished two shots behind Sangha as she also had one birdie on the way to a six-over round of 78. Johansson ranked seventh in the 50-player field with 13 pars.
- Julia Myklebust and Fernanda Sosa are both tied for 35th at eight-over 80. Myklebust also birdied No. 10 and had nine pars while Sosa posted 11 pars.
- Grace Bettis rounded out the Matador lineup as the junior is currently 49th at (+15) 87.
