Complete 2022 Spring Schedule
NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN head softball coach Charlotte Morgan has announced a 2022 Matador Spring schedule that features five in-season tournaments, 27 Big West Conference games, and six contests against teams that advanced to the 2021 postseason.
"First and foremost, it's exciting for our student-athletes to compete in a full normal collegiate season this Spring," Morgan said. "The past two years have been difficult for so many people and affected us on so many levels. To be able to put out a full Spring schedule and to allow us to play at the highest level is something we have learned to never take for granted."
Week one finds CSUN hosting a tournament with 2021 College World Series participant UCLA and Loyola Marymount. The Matadors will be playing the season opener Thursday, Feb. 10, in Los Angeles against the Bruins. The tournament continues Friday with a doubleheader against Oregon (a 2021 NCAA Tournament qualifier) before concluding on Saturday with a doubleheader against Nevada.
Next for the Matadors is the San Diego State Campbell/Cartier Classic Feb. 17-19. CSUN faces the host Aztecs, Southern Utah (twice), Army West Point, and California Baptist. The Matadors head to the prestigious Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic Feb. 24-26. CSUN faces Bethune Cookman, a pair of 2021 NCAA Tournament teams in Seattle University and Iowa State, and two Pac 12 foes in Utah and Oregon State.
March gets underway on the California Baptist campus as the Matadors enter the Amy Harrison Tournament Mar. 4-6. CSUN plays North Dakota State, the host Lancers (twice), Sacred Heart, and Oregon State. The final in-season tournament of 2022 is Mar. 11-13 at The University of San Diego. The Matadors take on Weber State and the host Toreros twice with the fifth game against San Diego State. CSUN concludes the non-conference slate with a Mar. 16 doubleheader against South Dakota State, a 2021 NCAA Tournament qualifier.
Big West play begins Mar. 19-20 when CSUN hosts Cal Poly. The opening road series is Mar. 25-26 at Hawai'i. April kicks off (2-3) at defending conference champion Long Beach State. The Matadors return home Apr. 8-9 against Cal State Fullerton before traveling to UC Davis Apr. 15-16.
CSUN hosts UC Riverside Apr. 22-23 before heading up to CSU Bakersfield Apr. 30-May 1. The Matadors' final home series is May 6-7 against UC San Diego before concluding the regular season at UC Santa Barbara May 13-14.
"We have some of the top competition in the country that we get to face and play teams from all over the nation to get us prepared for conference play. We will continue to keep preparing every day to be the best version of ourselves and come out and compete this Spring."
