CSUN Travels to Fresno State Tuesday Night

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.-- CSUN continues a three-game road trip (all against 2021 post-season teams) to end the month of November Tuesday night at Fresno State. The tip is set for 6 p.m. Coverage will be streamed on the Mountain West Network. All links are on GoMatadors.com.

Fresno State is 2-1 after defeating Stanislaus State 88-71 last Wednesday. The Bulldogs are led by Haley Cavinder who is averaging 18.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 8.0 rebounds per game. The 2021 preseason Mountain West Player of the Year, Cavinder was named to the preseason Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year watch list.Â

Her twin sister Hanna is averaging 15.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. The Cavinder sisters who are juniors have both already scored more than 1,000 points in their careers. Maddi Utti is also scoring in double digits as she is averaging 12.0 points per game.Â

Tuesday is the 23rd time that CSUN and Fresno State are playing women's basketball against the Bulldogs leading the all-time series 16-6. CSUN is playing Fresno State for the first time since Dec. 2, 2017, when the Matadors defeated the Bulldogs 85-72.

No. 14/20 UCLA defeated CSUN 73-46 last Thursday night in Los Angeles. Despite the large margin of defeat, CSUN led for over nine minutes in the first half, leading the game by six with just under a minute to go in the first quarter. It was a pair of runs (13-0 in the second quarter, 13-2 in the third quarter) that the Bruins mounted which proved to be the difference.Â

Tess Amundsen led CSUN with nine points. Rachel Harvey and Anaiyah Tu'ua both scored seven points. Tu'ua and Meghann Henderson each grabbed four rebounds to pace the Matadors. Henderson also blocked two shots. A 5-10 guard, Henderson is now fifth in the Big West in blocked shots.Â
