NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - CSUN Athletics lent a collective hand to the 21st Annual Dignity Health Northridge Hospital "Helping Hands Holiday Jam" Event for Children on Friday, Dec. 10.
Northridge Hospital Foundation and Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital Medical Center (NHMC), in partnership with many community partners and donors, turned an ordinary parking lot into a child's holiday extravaganza!
A host of CSUN teams including baseball, softball, men's and women's volleyball and men's and women's soccer had student-athletes assisting with set-up, carnival games, face painting and arts and crafts.
"This is such an awesome event that we've been involved with for five or six years now," said Will Carter, CSUN's General Manager of Matador Sports Properties. "Dignity Health has been a fantastic partner of CSUN Athletics and this is a great opportunity for us to get out and support the community. Our motto is "Unite The Valley" and it's really important to give a helping hand and get out student-athletes involved in this amazing event."
Three hundred and fifty (350) underserved children from the San Fernando Valley celebrated a true gifted Christmas with carnival games, arts and crafts, food, a visit and photo with Santa and a bag full of gifts to take home.
For the past 20 years, the Holiday Jam has been a Holiday highlight for thousands of children from our local area elementary schools between the ages of 7-10. These children are part of the "Title1/No Child Left Behind" program that provides financial assistance to local agencies for the education of children of low-income families. For many of these children, this will be their only Christmas. Â
