NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---Thirty-four CSUN student-athletes earned Big West All-Academic Team recognition Jan. 24, the league office announced.
To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, student-athletes are required to maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, complete one full year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received (at least a sophomore academically) and compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contents.
Â
By sport, CSUN had 14 of the 136 women's soccer selections. Eight of the 80 men's soccer nominees were from the Matador program. Seven of the 76 women's volleyball selections were from CSUN. The Matador women's cross country team had three members of the team selected while two members of the CSUN men's cross country were named Academic All-Conference.
The Big West recognizes individuals academically per season – fall, winter, and spring – for all conference-sponsored sports. The Winter Academic All-Conference Team will honor men's and women's basketball student-athletes, with the Spring Academic All-Conference Team consisting of student-athletes from men's and women's golf, men's and women's track and field, women's water polo, men's and women's tennis, men's volleyball, beach volleyball, softball and baseball.
