SET 1
The Matadors had their chances in the opening set as they overcame a three-point Beach lead midway through the set. An Anderson kill trimmed a 14-11 lead down to two before the visitors extended the lead to four at 16-12. A kill by Juric and an Anderson ace cut the lead again to two before the Matadors would use a pair of Beach hitting errors to knot the score at 20-20. Two straight Long Beach points forced a CSUN timeout before a Long Beach service error cut the lead to one. Anderson's third kill of the set kept the deficit at one (23-22) when the Beach closed the set with consecutive kills.
SET 2
The second set featured a match-high nine ties as the two teams played to a 12-12 tie following a Long Beach hitting error. The visitors then claimed three of the next four to open up a 16-13 lead before a Juric kill and a Kanan ace kept the Matadors within one. But Long Beach answered with a 5-0 run to extend the lead to 21-15 before a Nevarez kill ended the run. The Nevarez kill would turn out to be CSUN's final point of the set as the Beach closed out a 25-16 win.
