Cindy Arteaga Earns All-West Region Honors

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Women's Soccer's Cindy Arteaga was named to the All-West Region Third Team, the United Soccer Coaches announced on Nov. 29. The 2022 season would be a banner year for Arteaga who also earned All-Big West First Team accolades.
Originally from Santa Rosa, Calif., Arteaga posted career high numbers across the board in her third season with CSUN. The 5-5 forward ranked second in The Big West in goals (9), points (19), shots (78) and shots on goal (37). She played in all 19 matches while making 17 starts as she played 1,500 minutes on the field.
A two-time Big West Offensive Player of the Week, Arteaga scored four of her nine goals in league action. She recorded two braces during the campaign, one of which against UC Riverside in a 4-2 win to close the season (Oct. 27). Her other two-goal performance came against Portland State in a 2-0 win on Sept. 18.
In the CSUN record books, Arteaga moved into eighth place in school history with 12 career goals. Arteaga also is among the CSUN leaders in single-season offensive categories as her nine goals were the second-most goals scored in a season while her 19 points were the seventh most.
Arteaga's All-West Region award is the first of her collegiate career. Her All-Big West First Team selection was also a first-time honor this year.
Arteaga is the 15th Matador in school history to be named to the All-West Region team and the first since 2019.
