BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Redshirt freshman Julia Myklebust led all players with a round of 79 to pace the CSUN Women's Golf team to a 14-shot (326-340) dual match win over CSU Bakersfield Thursday at Bakersfield Country Club.
CSUN had the three low scorers in the dual match as Julia Johansson followed up Myklebust's seven-over 79 with an eight-over 80. Elle Laur, competing as an individual, carded a nine-over 81 to finish third.
With Myklebust, Johansson, Fernanda Sosa (83), Kiran Sangha (84) and Hanne Sofie Borgen (86) in the CSUN lineup, the Matadors posted a team score of 326 which was 14 shots better than the Roadrunners' 340. Aufa Rachmadya led the 'Runners with a team-low round of 82.
Myklebust's 79 gave her a one-shot individual win over Johansson. The Matadors also defeated the 'Runners in a fall dual that saw Tiffany Pak claim individual medalist honors with a one-under 71. Myklebust finished as runner-up at Moorpark Country Club with a one-over 73.
COACH MICHELLE WINKLER SAID
"I think everyone played their best considering the difficulty of the greens, they were very fast. The conditions were actually pretty pure today, there was no cloud cover and no wind so conditions were perfect for scoring. I've got to give credit to Julia (Myklebust) on being the only player to shoot in the 70's today."
