NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---Former CSUN standout left-handed pitcher Kenny Rosenberg made his Major League Baseball debut with the Los Angeles Angels on Monday.

Rosenberg pitched one inning in a relief appearance for the Angels on the road against the Houston Astros. The southpaw struck out two batters including Jose Siri, the first batter of the inning, on three pitches.
The Angels selected Rosenberg in last winter's Rule 5 Draft from the Tampa Bay Rays. Rosenberg made one spring training appearance with the Angels' Triple-A affiliate the Salt Lake Bees where he started and tossed four innings, striking out five while surrendering an unearned run.
Rosenberg was drafted in the eighth round of the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays and would go on to spend five seasons in the team's farm system. In 2021, Rosenberg pitched in 14 games for Triple-A Durham, posting a 2.35 ERA and 43 strikeouts. Rosenberg made 106 total appearances including 60 starts in the Rays' organization, racking up 34 wins and 450 strikeouts.
Originally from Mill Valley, Calif., Rosenberg joined the Matadors as a walk-on in 2014 and would finish his career as a weekend starter. He pitched in 15 games in his freshman season in a relief role before missing all of the 2015 season due to an injury.
However, Rosenberg had a breakout 2016 season with the Matadors where he led the Big West Conference in strikeouts with 118. He finished the campaign with a 6-1 record and a 3.21 ERA in 15 starts. Rosenberg limited the opposition to a .198 average during the year in 98 innings of work. He also racked up three double-digit strikeout performances highlighted by a 16-strikeout game against Northern Colorado.
