NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---Head coach Trent Johnson has announced the signing of incoming freshman Chris Carter to the CSUN Men's Basketball team.
Â
"We are fortunate to add Chris to our program at this time of the year," said Johnson. "He's an outstanding young man who comes from a great family. He is a sponge for the game of basketball, and he aspires to be as good as he possibly can. The sky is the limit for his potential as a basketball player."
Â
A 6-5 wing, Carter joins the Matadors from Shadow Hills High School in Indio, Calif. This past season, Carter took home Desert League Co-MVP honors in addition to first-team all-league accolades. He helped the Knights post a perfect 10-0 league record and a 19-7 overall mark in 2021-22. Over his high school career, Carter was a member of the 2020 CIF-SS Division 3A championship team that won 29 games. Â
Â
In addition to his success on the basketball court, Carter was a standout on Shadow Hills' track & field team as a high jumper. Carter would win the Desert Empire League high jump title in 2021 while he finished second in the competition in his senior season.
Â
With Carter, the Matadors have signed 10 student-athletes to the 2022-23 roster this offseason. Other CSUN signees include Adam Afifi (West Valley College), De'Sean Allen-Eikens (University of New Orleans), Dionte Bostick (Murray State), Ethan Igbanugo (University of North Dakota), Lamine Niang (Central Pointe Christian Academy), Cam Slaymaker (London Basketball Academy), Dearon Tucker (Indiana State), John Wade III (Contra Costa College) and Johnnie Walter (Hotchkiss School).
