CSUN Softball Inks Shaylan Whatman to National Letter of Intent

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN head softball coach Charlotte Morgan has announced the signing of Shaylan Whatman to a National Letter of Intent to continue her playing career with the Matadors.

"We are excited for Shaylan to come in and bring in the international experience as a player," Morgan said. "She's done some great things for the Australian National Team, and we can't wait to get the chance to get on the field and work with her. She will be an asset not only on the field but in the classroom as well."

Whatman briefly;

A member of the softball team at the San Diego State in 2022.
Played in 18 games, starting seven times.
Recorded four walks, three runs, and two doubles.
Began US collegiate career at Pensacola State (Junior) College in 2020.
Selected FCSAA first team All-State and first team All-Conference in 2021 as she hit .368 with 10 home runs and 31 RBI.
Started all 39 games and scored 32 runs. Charted a .684 slugging and .413 on-base percentage as team went 30-9, won the Panhandle Conference title, and advanced to state tournament.
A member of the 2022 Australian Development Spirit program.
A member of the Australian Junior National Team that played in the 2019 ISF Junior World Championship.
The 2019 National MVP and 2017 batting champion.
Played club softball for the Glenmore Phantoms for coach Wayne Frost.

Whatman joins Breli Agbayani-Shibao, Isabella Alonso, Lauryn Carranco, Kennedy Gustin, Raegan Jackson, Bella Mejia, Macy Mohrlock, Carys Murakami, Maddie Padilla, Gizella Vargas-Sandoval, Destiny White, and Riley Wickum as players who have signed a national letter of intent to play softball for CSUN in 2023.
