Complete All-Big West Team
NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Women's Soccer senior Izabel Reyes received Big West recognition in her final season on the pitch, the league office announced. Reyes was named All-Big West Honorable Mention, marking the first time she has received all-conference honors in her career.
A Valencia native, Reyes had a career season for the Matadors in 2023. After not previously scoring a goal in her career, Reyes recorded five this season to lead the squad while she posted team highs in points (12), shots (30) and shots on goal (17). She also added two assists for the year. Four of her five goals came in Big West play.
Among her highlights in 2023, Reyes recorded her first career brace against UC San Diego on Oct. 19 during the conference season. Reyes would also hit a timely goal against Cal State Fullerton in the 84th minute, tying the match in an eventual 1-1 draw on Sept. 24. She added a goal and two assists in a victory over Cal State Bakersfield on Sept. 28.
Reyes played in all 19 matches, making 17 starts on the season. It would be the first time in her CSUN career that she competed in every contest.
A three-year letterwinner, Reyes began her CSUN career in 2019 where she helped the Matadors finish as Big West runners-up. However, due to the pandemic and several injuries, Reyes would not have a chance to compete again until the 2022 season. After playing in a reserve role last year, Reyes played in a career-high 1,194 minutes in 2023.
Reyes wraps up her Matador career with five goals, four assists and 14 points in 51 total matches.
