CSUN Welcomes Six New Additions to 2025-26 Roster

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.-- Head Coach Charlotte Morgan has announced the addition of six new players to the 2025-26 roster. Signees include Alizae Cole, Isabella Hiner, Kaitlyn Tso, Makenna Pettey, Perseus Yanez, and Ta'Tiannah Wright.

"This 2025 class is going to come in and make a difference right away. They all have such different skill expertise and different personalities. We are bringing in depth in the battery, throughout the field and a lot of options offensively. We will lose a big class this year, but we are excited to bring in high level student-athletes that believe in the Matador way. Be ready to see this class come in and make some special impacts in our program. They all have what we want here at CSUN. Every one of these players raise our standards and we are excited to announce them officially as a Matador."

Alizae Cole (Ceres, Calif./Ceres High School)
P/1B, 5-4, Class of 2025

CSUN is adding P/1B Alizae Cole for the 2025-26 season. Cole joins the Matadors after spending her high school career at Ceres High School in Ceres, Calif.
Â
A 5-4 left-handed pitcher from Modesto, Cole was voted 2024 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Pitcher of the Year in the same season where her high school squad won their second straight WAC title. During her junior campaign, she compiled a 12-1 record with a 1.70 ERA, 86 strikeouts, nine complete games and one shutout.

Cole was voted first-team All-Conference in 2024 and batted a career .456 batting average in her first three seasons at Ceres High. In the same season where her Bulldogs won the WAC, her team compiled a near perfect 13-1 record and outscored opponents 178-37.

"Alizae is truly one-of-a kind!" Morgan said. "She not only gives us a left-handed pitcher, but also a big lefty bat to our lineup. Alizae's story is very special and can't wait to see her blossom in our program."

Isabella Hiner (Chula Vista, Calif./Mater Dei Catholic High School)
C/1B, 5-9, Class of 2025

The Matadors have signed catcher/first baseman Isabella Hiner for the 2025-26 season. Hiner joins the Matadors from Mater Dei Catholic High School in Chula Vista, Calif.
Â
A 5-9 right-handed catcher from Chula Vista, Hiner sported a .321 batting average in her junior season for the Crusaders. She sports a career .312 OBP and 12 RBI in her career.Â
Â
She led Mater Dei Catholic to a 6-0 league record, ranked #26 in the state and overall record of 29-6Â last season. Her team lost a heartbreaker in the 2024 CIF Regional Final game against Etiwanda 5-4.
She played her club softball at Breakers Labs Bobby 18u Gold. Hiner intends to major in psychology during her time at CSUN.

"Isabella adds depth behind the plate and on defense." Morgan said. "Her athleticism and her will to continuously be better is what we look for. She has a high-level IQ and is ready to come and compete in our program. She knows what we are about and she wants to help grow our program to new levels."

Kaitlyn Tso (Flagstaff, Ariz./Coconino High School)
P/UTIL, 5-3, Class of 2025

CSUN is also announcing the addition of pitcher/utility player Kaitlyn Tso for the 2025-26 season. Tso will join the Matadors from Coconino High School in Flagstaff, Ariz.

The 5-3 right hander from Flagstaff sports a career 1.44 ERA in her three years of varsity play. She has amassed an impressive 59-14 record in her first three seasons for the Panthers. During her junior season, in the 25 games she started on the mound, she completed 20 of those games and compiled 13 shutouts as well. She has struck out 790 opposing batters during her high school career.

Tso has also gotten the job done with the bat as well. A career .394 hitter, she blasted seven home runs during the 23-24 campaign. In 74 at-bats last season, Tso tallied 36 RBI's.

Tso was named Daily Sun Softball Athlete of the Year three years in a row.
Â
Tso has been playing softball ever since she was a child. In fact, Tso was part of the Flagstaff All-Stars 8-10 girls softball team in 2017 where she won a state championship.

"Kaitlyn is a huge get for us and our program," said Morgan. "She is not only a pitcher, but she can also help on defense and in the lineup with her bat. We love that she brings in such a unique skill set to our program. Kaitlyn is going to come and do amazing things. Who she is as a person is exactly what we want here at CSUN."

Makenna Pettey (Yucaipa, Calif./Yucaipa High School)
C/UTIL, 5-7, Class of 2025

CSUN is also welcoming the addition of C/UTIL player Makenna Pettey for the 2025-26 season. Pettey joins the Matadors after spending her high school career at Yucaipa High School in Yucaipa, Calif.

The 5-7 right hander has racked up a handful of accolades during her high school career at Yucaipa. In 2024, she made All CIF First Team for Division II. She earned varsity captain honors in her junior year and was even First Team CBL (Citrus Belt League).

In the 2023-24 season, in 26 games played, Pettey had an impressive .470 batting average (good enough for first in her league) with a .532 on base percentage. She had 14 doubles, 14 runs batted in, six stolen bases and two home runs. Pettey was also a staple defensively, where she tallied a .962 fielding percentage, good for third in her league.

She led her team to an 8-2 record in Citrus Belt league play, good for second in the conference, and a 10-15-4 record overall.

"Makenna is exactly who we want in our program." Morgan said. "She wants to come in and compete for a position and also is a high-level student in the classroom. Makenna is loyal and resilient and that is exactly what we want here. She gives depth behind the plate but also is an athlete who can play many other positions as well."

Perseus Yanez (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Upland High School)
P/1B, 5-8, Class of 2025

Another addition joins the staff with Morgan announcing the addition of pitcher/ first baseman Perseus Yanez for the 2025-26 season. Yanez joins the Matadors from Upland High School in Upland, Calif.

A 5-8 left-handed pitcher from Rancho Cucamonga, Yanez made All-Baseline League honors during her 2024 season. In 2024, she led her team to a 17-8 overall record while going 8-2 in league play. She plays for the club team, Corona Angels Howard.

"Perseus is another left-handed two-way player that we are adding to our lineup," Morgan explained. "One thing that has stood out to us is her high level of IQ and work ethic. She is exactly what a Matador softball student athlete is on the field and in the classroom. We can't wait to see her growth and impact in all areas on and o? the field."

CSUN closes out the signing class with the addition of catcher/utility player Ta'Tiannah Wright for the 2025-26 season. Wright joins the Matadors from Helix Charter High School in La Mesa, Calif.

A 5-4 right-handed catcher from Chula Vista, Wright led her Helix Charter High team in home runs (3) RBI's (20), slugging percentage (.666), doubles (6), triples (3) and stolen bases (5) while she was second in batting average (.362) and on base percentage (.464) during her junior season. Wright boasts a 77 mph exit velocity off her bat.

Wright has experience playing travel ball, as she is a staple on the Power Surge Walling 18u Gold team.Â

She intends on majoring in Kinesiology during her time at CSUN.

"Ta'Tiannah is very versatile and strong," said Morgan. "The ceiling is high for her and her abilities on the field. She brings so much athleticism in all parts of the field. She is what our program is about and we are excited to see her grow and how she impacts us."
