
Telek and Pal Collect All-Big West Honors

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Water Polo's Dorottya Telek and Anna Pal collected All-Big West awards, the league office announced. Telek earned her third consecutive all-conference nod with a first-team selection while Pal received an Honorable Mention.
Originally from Budapest, Hungary, Telek topped The Big West in goals for the third consecutive season with 94 goals on 52.2 percent shooting. Her 94 goals were the second-most in team history and only seven short of her school record 101 she recorded last season. She posted a career-high 124 points also in 2024, good for third-best in the conference. Telek would add 32 steals, 30 assists, 13 field blocks along with a career-high 110 drawn exclusions. During the season, Telek scored at least once in 29 of 30 matches and multiple times in 21 matches. In Big West play, Telek hit the net nine times to go with 13 steals and seven assists.
Telek made even more Matador history in 2024, breaking Madeleine Sanchez's all-time career goals school record on Feb. 24. She finished the 2024 season at 272 career goals, 53 tallies higher than Sanchez's previous school record. Earlier this season, Telek also earned her school-record fourth Big West Player of the Week award.
Telek's All-Big West First Team selection is the second of her career, joining Jillian Stapf, Whitney Delgado, Sydney Sonoda, Marisa Young and Sanchez as the only two-time honorees in team history. Last season, Telek earned All-Big West Second Team honors while she was previously an All-Freshman Team selection in 2022.
A fellow Budapest native, Pal had a career season in 2024 as she led the team and finished second in the conference in points with 127. Pal netted 65 goals, a new career best, which ranked fourth-highest in The Big West while she led the conference in assists with a new personal-best 62 helpers. She added 31 steals and eight field blocks in a career-high 33 appearances. In Big West play, Pal was especially impressive in leading CSUN with 13 goals and 19 points.
Pal earned her first career Big West Player of the Week award on April 17 after scoring the game winner in an upset win over 14th-ranked UC Santa Barbara. A previous All-Freshman Team honoree in 2022, Pal's Honorable Mention award is the first of her Matador career.
CSUN was ranked No. 16 in this week's CWPA top-25 rankings, the highest the program has been ranked since 2015. The Matadors finished with their most wins since 2014, posting an 18-15 overall record and a 2-5 Big West record.
