CSUN Announces 2025 Schedule Featuring Night Time Baseball

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN head baseball coach Eddie Cornejo has released the 2025 schedule, highlighted by night time baseball in Northridge for the first time ever.
The Matadors will play more than half of their 24 home games under newly installed lights this season, providing Matador fans with a brand new and exciting experience at Matador Field. The first CSUN night game is set for Thursday, Feb. 20 when the Matadors take on BYU. CSUN will also host the likes of Oregon State, USC, UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton in 2025.
A total of 52 regular season games are set for 2025 with the Matadors scheduled to square off with four NCAA Regional teams from last season. The Matadors will take on programs from the Big 12, Big Ten, WCC, Mountain West and the Ivy League this year. In all, CSUN faces 12 teams that boasted winning records from a year ago including 10 programs which won 30 or more games while three reigning conference champions are also on the schedule.
"This may be the most competitive schedule we've put together since I arrived at CSUN," said Cornejo who enters his third season as head coach. "We look forward to an exciting season and revisiting my alma mater."
CSUN opens the 2025 season on the road in a four-game series at Santa Clara from Feb. 14-17. The following weekend, the Matadors will open their home schedule against BYU under the lights. The three-game series with the Cougars is set for Feb. 20-22.
A weekend later, Cornejo will make his return to the University of Oklahoma where he spent his final two collegiate seasons. The Matadors will have a test on the field as they take on an Oklahoma team that is coming off a Big 12 championship season. The series with the Sooners will take place from Feb. 28-March 2.
CSUN embarks on the start of Big West play on the road against defending Big West champion UC Santa Barbara from March 7-9. A midweek game at LMU on March 11 closes a seven-game road stretch before the Matadors host UC Irvine in their Big West home-opening series from March 14-16. The Anteaters are another NCAA Regional team from last season.
The Matadors will host defending Ivy League regular season champion Columbia on March 18 then travels to Cal State Bakersfield from March 21-23. CSUN hosts another key Big West series from March 28-30 against visiting Hawai'i while the Matadors return to the road for midweek tilts at Saint Mary's (April 1) and San Francisco (April 2).
Another Big West home series is set for April 4-6 as the Matadors take on Cal State Fullerton before they open another challenging week on the road at Arizona State for a midweek game (April 8) and at UC San Diego in a weekend series (April 11-13).
The month of April rolls on with marquee matchups at Matador Field. CSUN takes on Portland on April 15 then welcomes perennial college baseball power Oregon State to Northridge from April 17-19. The Beavers, who will play this season as an independent, competed in the postseason as well in 2024.
The remainder of Big West play includes CSUN hosting UC Riverside (May 2-4) and Cal Poly (9-11) while the Matadors travel to Long Beach State (April 25-27) and close the regular season at UC Davis (May 15-17).
CSUN will also play a home-and-home with USC in the final weeks of the regular season. The Matadors host the Trojans on April 29 while they play a return game in Los Angeles on May 13. CSUN also visits San Diego State on May 6 in another midweek contest.
The 2025 season will feature the Big West Baseball Championship, held at Cal State Fullerton's Goodwin Field from May 21-25. This season's postseason championship is the first baseball tournament hosted by the Big West in 27 seasons and will determine the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. A total of five teams will qualify for the Big West Championship with the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds competing in a play-in contest to earn a spot in a four-team double elimination bracket.
