BOISE, Idaho---CSUN Men's Basketball scored a season low in an 82-50 defeat to Idaho State on Friday at the Idaho Central Arena. Jai Chisolm scored a season-high 15 points off the bench on 5-of-9 shooting.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Davius Loury opened up the scoring with a corner three, giving the Matadors the lead early. Despite a 2-for-9 start from the floor, CSUN found itself tied with Idaho State at 5-5 at the first media timeout. Josiah Davis gave the Matadors a 7-5 edge with 14:13 left in the first half, but that basket would be the Matadors' last for the next 12 minutes of game action. After suffering a slow start offensively as well, Idaho State began to turn things around near the midway mark of the first half. A 6-0 run from the Bengals gave them a seven-point advantage while another 9-0 spurt off three consecutive threes extended the lead further to 25-11 with 7:45 left in the first half. The deficit swelled to 31-12 before Larry Hughes II finally ended the Matadors' field goal drought with a three with 2:36 on the clock. However, an 8-3 run from Idaho State including a buzzer beater form Jamison Guerra off a Matador turnover put the Bengals ahead 39-18 at intermission.Â
Shooting just 15.6 percent in the first half, CSUN would miss its first eight shots to begin the second half while Idaho State opened with an 8-0 run to take a 47-18 edge. The Matadors received a lift from Chisolm off the bench who nailed a three, one of his three made on the day, at the 13:53 mark of the second period. Near the nine-minute mark, Chisolm converted on back-to-back Matador baskets as CSUN looked up at a 60-34 deficit. Overall, Chisolm scored all 15 of his points in the second half, making five of the Matadors' nine field goals in the period. However, the Matadors would not be able to cut into the big deficit as Idaho State led by as many as 39 points. The Bengals shot 51.9 percent in the second half en route to the double-digit victory.Â
