NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - CSUN Beach Volleyball has finalized its 2026 schedule as the Matadors open their 13th season of the sport on Feb. 20 against Concordia Irvine.
The dual match against the Golden Eagles also opens the Jeff Hall era, as CSUN will play 29 regular-season matches before the 2026 Big West Beach Championship gets underway in San Luis Obispo in April.
"I'm very excited about our 2026 competition schedule," said Hall, who comes to CSUN from the University of Hawai'i, where he built the Beach Bows' program into a perennial national contender in his five-plus seasons as head coach. "It's a great mix of the best programs in the country and a first-time trip to Boise State for the Matadors."
After opening the 2026 season with a home dual against Concordia, the Matadors will travel to Los Angeles for the Battle for LA tournament for the second time in as many seasons. Over the two-day event held at three locations (USC, UCLA, LMU), CSUN will take on a host of nationally-ranked teams, including USC, Pepperdine, Boise State, and LMU.
March opens with a road tri-dual at USC's Merle Norman Stadium against Stetson and the host Trojans before the Matadors return home for their final home match of the season. CSUN will host Hope International on Mar. 6 at noon in its final appearance on home sand in 2026.Â
The Matadors will then have back-to-back tournaments as CSUN travels to Cal Poly for the Mustang Roundup on Mar. 13-14. The Matadors will take on UC Davis and Arizona on the first day, before taking on Grand Canyon and Oregon to close the weekend. The annual Big West Challenge returns to Long Beach on Mar. 21-22 as CSUN plays all six other Big West teams over two days at Rosie's Dog Beach.
The month of March closes with a tri-dual at Concordia in Irvine as CSUN takes on Vanguard and the host Golden Eagles for the second time in 2026. April opens with a first-ever road trip to Boise, Idaho, where the Matadors meet Oregon, UTEP, Santa Clara, and the host Broncos over the Apr. 3-4 weekend. CSUN then closes the regular season with a tri-dual against Concordia and Long Beach State in Long Beach (Apr. 11), a road dual at LMU (Apr. 17), and a final tri-dual in Bakersfield against the Roadrunners and Pacific on Apr. 18.
"Our team is ready to compete and looks forward to this exciting line-up of competition," Hall added.
The Big West Championship, now in its 10th season, is scheduled for April 23-24 at Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex in San Luis Obispo.
