NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---Seven CSUN soccer student-athletes across the men's and women's teams were placed on the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team this fall. In addition, all seven advanced to the national ballot for the Academic All-America award.
The CSC academic awards program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on and off the field each year. The academic qualifications for the distinction are a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. Nominated student-athletes must be a sophomore academically and must have participated in at least 90 percent of the team's games this season or start 66 percent of the time.

From the CSUN men's team, Jake Shaked earned his second straight academic all-district honor. Shaked was a pillar of one of the best Matador defenses in recent years. He was a part of six shutouts on the season, as he started in 15 games while playing 16 total. Shaked tallied 1,292 minutes, along with playing the full 90 minutes in 12 games. He played the full 90 minutes in the final nine games of the season when CSUN was vying for a playoff spot. Shaked was fourth on the team in total minutes, as he was seen as a captain on the field for the Matadors. In the classroom, Shaked held one of the top grade point averages at CSUN, majoring in Economics.
The CSUN women's team had six representatives earn academic all-district accolades, which included Cailey Jackson, Riley Liebsack, Sydney Lipkin, Yasmin Azar, Yoshi Rubclava and Kayden Perigo.

A senior from Rancho Cucamonga, Jackson was the top goal scorer for the Big West regular season champion Matadors. Jackson was tied for seventh in the Big West in points (13) and tied for eighth in goals scored (5), both of which were new career highs. An All-Big West Second Team honoree, Jackson was also third in the conference in shots (59) and shots on goal (25) while starting a career-high 20 matches. Over her CSUN career, Jackson has been placed on the academic CSC All-District Team and the Big West All-Academic Team twice each. Jackson majored in Public Health with CSUN.

Liebsack, a senior from Torrance, had a banner season as the Matadors' starting goalkeeper. She played every minute during the season, finishing tied for second in the Big West with nine shutouts, which set a new career high. An All-Big West Second Team selection, Liebsack allowed just four goals in conference play, posting a 0.40 goals-against-average to finish tied for first in the league. Overall, Liebsack registered a 0.79 GAA, good enough for fifth in a single season in team history. She also recorded 71 saves and an .816 save percentage on the year. A Communications graduate at CSUN, Liebsack was a Big West All-Academic Team recipient last season.

Originally from Bothell, Wash., Lipkin anchored the Matador defense in 2025 in earning All-Big West First Team honors for the first time in her two-year career. She started all 20 matches, playing full time in 18 contests while racking up 1,798 minutes. Lipkin helped the Matadors record seven consecutive shutouts to open Big West play, setting a new school record. Her effort on the defensive end would lead CSUN to allowing just four goals against conference foes. A sophomore, Lipkin is currently majoring in Psychology at CSUN.

Azar made a splash in her first season with CSUN in 2025. Playing in all 20 matches, Azar posted a career-high three goals with one assist and seven points as one of the top reserves in the Big West. Two of her three goals on the year came in Big West play as she recorded five of her seven points against conference teams. Azar finished with 14 shots and eight on goal in 694 minutes of action. A Folsom, Calif. native, Azar began her college career last year with Coastal Carolina. With CSUN, Azar is majoring in Management with an emphasis in Business Administration.

A senior midfielder from El Paso, Texas, Rubalcava started 17 of 20 matches with CSUN in 2025. She finished with one assist, totaling the third-most shots on the team at 34. She racked up 1,232 minutes on the field and played full time in five contests. Rubcalcava finished her CSUN career with six goals, three assists and 15 total points in 69 matches. She earned an All-Big West Honorable Mention last season after scoring five goals. She was previously a two-time Big West All-Academic Team honoree, majoring in Criminology and Justice Studies with a minor in Psychology.

Perigo played in a career-high 20 matches in her sophomore season with CSUN as she made 18 total starts.
