NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Men's Basketball's junior Scotty Washington earned his second Big West Player of the Week award of the season, as announced by the league office on Monday. Washington had a career night last Saturday in helping the Matadors to an important 89-85 win over Cal Poly, keeping CSUN near the top of the Big West standings.
Washington, a Del Amo native, poured in a career-high 29 points in 35 minutes of action against Cal Poly last Saturday at Premier America Credit Union Arena. He finished with a career-high 10 made field goals on 16 attempts while he went 5-of-8 from beyond the three-point arc to go with 4-of-4 shooting at the free throw line. Washington also registered four rebounds and two assists in the four-point win.

In the second half, Washington was near perfect from the floor, making 5-of-7 shots as well as both of his threes and all four of his attempts at the free throw line. Washington totaled 16 of his 29 points in the final period as he helped CSUN overcome a four-point deficit at halftime. He also made two late free throws to help hold off Cal Poly down the stretch.
CSUN's win over Cal Poly kept the Matadors in the third spot in the Big West standings at 10-4 in conference play. The Matadors are a half game up on fourth place UC Riverside (10-5) heading into this week's action while CSUN is just 1.5 games back of first place UC San Diego (12-2) and UC Irvine (12-2).
